The Science Behind the Game
Every biological mechanism in ImmunoBlitz reflects real-world principles of human immunology, microbiology, and disease prevention. By visualizing abstract microscopic interactions through active strategy, players develop an intuitive understanding of how the body maintains health under threat.
1. Pathogen Diversity
Not all infectious threats behave the same way. ImmunoBlitz introduces players to three major classes of pathogens:
- Viruses: Tiny, non-living infectious agents that require host cells to replicate. In-game viral waves require rapid response and preventative measures like vaccination.
- Bacteria: Single-celled microorganisms that proliferate rapidly and release damaging toxins. Bacterial outbreaks respond directly to targeted antibiotic treatments.
- Fungi: Complex organisms that often form persistent, slow-spreading infections requiring specialized physical barriers and antiseptics to contain.
2. Physical Barriers & First Line Defenses
Before immune cells engage an invader, the body relies on physical and chemical barriers to keep pathogens at bay. Players can reinforce natural defenses such as the skin, tear enzymes, respiratory mucus, stomach acid, and saliva to slow down incoming threats before they reach deeper organ systems.

When natural barriers are breached, modern medicine offers vital support to the body's natural defenders:
